Look, this is a fairly unorthodox birthday gift, but I wanted to do something special for you that matches your ability to make me feel special. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you know how much I love and appreciate you and your friendship.
Speaking of which, you BETTER have gone up and pressed that "Celebrate!" button (with your volume on!). I'm not kidding. I'm watching you. That took me an ungodly amount of time, and I need you to both appreciate and enjoy it.
If you have pressed that button, I hope you feel thoughoughly celebrated. I hope you feel loved, appreciated, special, and somewhat irritated. You know me, I can't help but be atleast a little annoying to you.
Anyway, lets get to the point. I'm not going to write you a novel, but I am going to write you a short story. The story of our friendship. it has been So so long, and you have been there for me through so much. In the 17 years and 5 months that I have known you, you have always been Queen of annecdotes, and I have always been so excited to hear them. So let's see what I can recall...
Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.
I would be dishonset if I rememberd too much from this time, however I do remember that you were one of my very first friends, I have a vauge recollection of you and Ellen being great friends, and there's some foggy imagery of you with one of those blue plastic aprons on, being so excited for painting time.
Good old primary school, 'ol Lefevre Peninsula. I'm fairly sure we were in the same
class for the majority of primary school, although
I think the Most vivid memories of mine are from year 7. The main Classic Ruby
annecdote that comes to
mind is the time... Bryce/Brayden(? I can't remember maybe it was actually Corey)
was trying to show you a scar on his thigh, and could not figure out how to
do it without just pantsing himself. So he did. Laughing to myself just thinking of
it now. Such a good classic story.
In fact Scouts was a big part of our friendship bonding, You, Owen and Finn were the
main reason I joined, and I'm so glad I did. So many fond memories.
Even though Highschool was only 5 compared to 8 of primary school, there was far too many meaningful events to boil it down to a short paragraph. possibly one of the main highlights are the times we spent at our Bench, or at your various BBQs your family hosted. Infact now that I'm reminiscing, an honestly treasured memory of mine was business week, apparently that was a stressful week for many people, but my main memory of it was coordinating our outfits together.
It's stange that it feels like a life time ago, but also just the other week, we
were in Melbourne for your audition interview. But holy shit has alot happened
since we graduated, you're a fully qualified Designer now, and so cool and
independedent, a real insperation.
There are so many things that happened since Highschool, I honestly can't decide
where to start or what to say. I'm sure there's so much more to come
every time I hear of a new project you're working on I'm increasingly impressed.
